I can't tell you how excited I am to share this wedding with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Living in the Midlands I don't often get asked to photograph weddings near the sea so I was jumping up and down with glee when Katie & James booked me to photograph their big day. Not only was it by the sea...it was on an island...in a totally exclusive art deco hotel!!!
I was so looking forward to this wedding that I arrived 3 days early, with my family so I could spend some quality time with them and also check out the venue for myself. When I first saw Burgh Island it took my breath away, you have to walk over from the mainland in low tide or in high tide you can catch a lift on the sea tractor (something I had to do at 10pm in the dark...that was an experience!)
This island is just of the coast of Bigbury on Sea in Devon, the hotel was built in the 1920's to look like a cruise liner on land and still has all of the original features....it really is a sight to behold. Unfortunately you can't enter the hotel unless you are a guest but you can go over to the island for a drink in the Pilchard Inn...highly recommended!
Many of the guests arrived in original 1920's outfits too which just added to the atmosphere of the day and as a photographer I was simply spoilt for choice of beautiful things to capture.
